Mycket fint med stort utbud, dock tog allt för lång tid vid beställningar/kassor osv så därför valde vi annat ställe för mat osv..

We stayed at Ranua over Xmas. Our first night was in a glass igloo. We didn't see the northern lights but the igloos are superbly equipped for what they are and we arrived late to find meals in our fridge and wine.|We transferred the next morning to the villas at the resort which are also very good accommodation. |All of the transfers provided by the resort including airport transfers were spot on.|We travelled with our 18 month old daughter with no issues.|We were full board and the food exceeded our expectations. The only complaint we have is that lunch is served between 11am and 4pm but the resort had huge coach loads of zoo visitors each day who had lunch included so the small onsite restaurant was completely full from 12-2 for the coach groups reserved tables not allowing resort guests to eat which caught us out on our first day and not great when you have a child to feed and you can't sit down and eat. We had to eat lunch later because of this just like all other guests had to which I felt was a little unfair as the coaches were only visiting for the day yet took priority.|The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly. The place is very child friendly. There are little sleighs everywhere you can just pick up and use for luggage or children. There is a shop but it only sells sweets. You would need to go to a local supermarket to get supplies. Reception provide tea and milk sachets. The activities get booked up very quickly so it's probably better to book in advance prior to arriving.|Would recommend to families travelling with kids of all ages. The zoo is pretty much empty in winter as all of the animals are hiding and I don't blame them (lol) but the zoo wasn't the reason we booked it.

This is a great place to stay if you want memorable experiences and cozy arctic lodges. The staff were very friendly and helpful, specifically Kari who was a great guy. Saw the northern lights, went dog sledding and saw the northern lights. Best experience of my life!!

Wonderful location so peaceful. Stayed in the lodge which was beautiful, so big with 6 beds. Lovely sauna room and a fire place. Staff couldn’t do enough for us so friendly and helpful went out of their way for us. Enough food locations onsite. Zoo was onsite too which we visited in the snow. Would recommend staying here to anyone wanting a break. I would stay here again.

Actually everything was wonderful except for three things:

1) Breakfast was delivered to the door the evening before at 4 p.m. This included for one person: 1 apple, 200 ml milk, 1 croissant, 1 yogurt, 1 sandwich with ham and cheese, 1 smoothie, 1 mini butter, 1 bag of oatmeal. The whole thing cost €10. I recommend booking the cabin without breakfast and spending the money you save at the bakery in Ranua, 2.8 km away.

2) We extended our stay by one day, without breakfast. Although we saved the staff work, we didn't get fresh towels or new "dry" firewood for the stove. That would have cost €10 extra. Remember, if we had checked out and then rebooked, we would have had firewood again for the same price in another cottage.

3) A cute stuffed polar bear was sitting on the sofa. Of course our child wanted the animal. It was completely overpriced. A really nasty psychological trick.

Ultimately, you get the feeling that you are just being ripped off. The tickets for the zoo also cost around €20 per person. It wasn't that special. $10-15 would have been appropriate.

The rooms are actually one of the two semis making up a log cabin. There is not a hotel as such. The cabins are about a 10 minute walk from reception and from the "restaurant" (rustic tables and benches), down an underpass under the main road which runs through the middle of the site. The cabin was beautifully clean and very attractive from the outside. I have to be honest and say that I was surprised how basic the cabins are after reading the reviews on here. In reality, there are two bedrooms - not three, as I expected, the third "bedroom" is just two very narrow, very basic (travel?) single beds placed on the landing outside one of the two bedrooms. One of the tiny single beds is against the hand rail of the landing. With an excited four year old and a five year old child, we were worried in case the children decided to play on the beds during the night time and fell over the railings, hence their parents slept on these two very small single beds. ALL the beds in the chalet are single beds. The second bedroom is downstairs. Neither of the bathrooms are en-suite (one upstairs, one downstairs). As there was no snow whilst we were there(!!!), we probably travelled rather more than would normally be the case, as there is not a huge amount to do on site once you have exhausted the small zoo, (although it is a beautiful area) and we were very pleased that we had decided to hire a vehicle. Because we could easily travel to supermarkets (I think these are only in Ranua itself (about 10 mins drive) and just outside Rovaniemi (about 50 mins drive), we were very glad of the small kitchen in the cabins. Equipment is basic but good enough for what we wanted (e.g. only two pans and one oven tray). The stove was wonderful in the evening ... but then the adults sleeping on the landing found it very hot at night!!! 🙂 Breakfast was fairly basic and the "restaurant" rather like a hostel - you are expected to clear away your table putting waste into waste containers, cutlery into bowls of water, cups and plates into respective baskets, etc.|The one thing that surprised me was that there was very little in the way of Christmas decoration. Virtually nothing in the cabins at all. There were not even pictures on the walls, just the bare painted wooden boards (apart from a hardboard cut out relating to the name of the cabin in which you are staying - e.g. a polar bear).|The staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially the reception staff. So ... would I stay again...... hummmm may be ..... but .... if I went again, I would possibly stay in Rovaniemi, but this is possibly an unfair judgement because there would be much more to do in Ranua had there been any snow!!!|So .... we had an enjoyable holiday, in part thanks to the fact that we had hired a vehicle and went into Rovaniemi a couple of times to Santa's village and an art gallery etc., and explored the frozen lake in Ranua).

Ranua is a good place to be away from the Rovaniemi city buzz and experience the quietness. Staff was friendly and helped us book or SnowMobile tour and also answered all our touristy questions. The zoo is fantastic and a must visit for family.

Rooms: FoxB : Very cozy place with a good kitchen and Sauna. The beds were comfortable. But all rooms have single beds which you can join and use as a double.

Kitchen : The kitchen has everything you need. Just pop to the closest grocery store. We love the hike, So we walked to the nearest one. its about 25-30mins walk one way, or the reception will give you a ride as well.

Fireplace: We used it once during our stay and it really helps to bring a ncie vibe to the place

Sauna : Nice and easy to use and will keep you nice and warm

The restaurant serves good breakfast. There are 2-3 different restaurants, where im sure you can get food during your stay.

We arrived at 1900ish, which was the same time as the restaurant closes as well. Yuha from reception gave a headsup to the chef and they were super sweet to wait for us and make the last meal. We dont eat lot of meat, So the chef made a delicous chicken burger and we were set
